nSpec 3D uses a variety of customizable tools to map surface topographies and characterize the properties of composite materials. Nanotronics tools measure particle size and dispersion, detect surface features, and analyze problematic processing defects.

In order to measure filler dispersion, Nanotronics images the presence of agglomerates. nSpec®3D forms a composite image of the surface topography using multiple light vectors. A dispersion index quantifies the total volume of agglomerates on a sample surface. While 3D topography offers volumetric information and count, 2D analysis offers a bird’s eye view of a surface area.
The results of these two measurements provide insight into disagglomeration, dispersion, and the properties of the polymer matrix.
